    We verify you

    We primary-source your license through Michigan LARA and run an FCRA-compliant background check. Most caregivers are cleared in 2–3 business days.

    Get shift offers by SMS

    When a facility posts a matching shift, you get a text. The first qualified caregiver to reply YES gets the shift.

    Work the shift, get paid

    Clock in, do your shift, clock out. We pay you on the agreed schedule for that shift — no chasing facility AP, no invoices.

Pay & shifts

One rate per shift. Disclosed up front. Paid on schedule.

Shift offers from CareRelay show role, location, hours, and rate before you commit. Pick the ones that work, ignore the rest. We don't penalize you for declining.

  • Same-day claim, locked rate. Whatever rate is on the offer is what you're paid for the shift.
  • Urgency uplift. Shifts going out under 6 hours' notice carry a clearly flagged premium rate.
  • No agency cut from your rate. Our fee comes from the facility, not from your wage.
  • 1099 by default. CareRelay caregivers are independent contractors. Set aside for taxes accordingly — we'll send the forms you need.

Are CareRelay caregivers employees or contractors?
Caregivers on CareRelay are independent contractors and work under a per-shift service engagement. CareRelay is not your employer. You are responsible for your own taxes; we'll send any required tax forms based on what you earn through the platform.
How does pay work?
Each shift offer shows the rate before you accept. CareRelay pays you per filled shift on the schedule we agree to during onboarding. There is no agency markup pulling from your hourly rate — what you see is what you make for that shift.
Do I need a smartphone or app?
No. Shift offers come as plain text messages. If you can receive a text, you can pick up shifts on CareRelay. We do have a web dashboard for caregivers who want to see their schedule and earnings, but it's optional.
What if I'm unavailable for a while?
Reply STOP to any shift offer text and we'll pause dispatch. Text us when you're ready to start receiving offers again. There is no penalty for going quiet — we want reliable caregivers, not stretched-thin ones.
Do you only operate in Michigan?
For now, yes. CareRelay is starting with assisted living homes in Michigan. We'll expand to other states once we're running smoothly here.
What happens if I get hurt on a shift?
You're an independent contractor, so we strongly recommend carrying your own occupational accident or short-term disability coverage. Some facilities also extend their own protections to contracted caregivers; we'll surface that on the shift offer when applicable.
